Rover Oxford recorded back-to-back wins with a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Ramgarhia at Oxford Brookes in the South League's regional division.

Rover tested out a new formation and it seemed to pay off as they enjoyed plenty of early possession.

Against the run of play, Ramgarhia converted a counter-attack but the home team soon restored parity with a well-worked equaliser converted by Dan Pilbeam.

Rob Lawrence struck again to give Rover a 2-1 lead, and although Ramgarhia began the second half strongly, Rover weathered the storm with Andy Wynd notching a third.

Ramgarhia made it a tight finish with another goal before Rover sealed victory with a second Pilbeam goal.

Oxford Hawks’ campaign in Premier 1 goes from bad to worse.

They crashed 7-0 at Spencer (Wandsworth) and remain rooted to the foot of the teable, the only side without a win.

Oxford University are doing considerably better. Martin Pickup struck a hat-trick, after Charlie Duffell opened their scoring, to give the students a 4-3 win at home to Maidstone and lift them to seventh in the table.

Banbury’s four-match winning run ended at Chichester in a table-topping Premier 1 clash when a dramatic second half saw them surrender a two-goal lead in a 4-2 defeat.

Banbury, who were named Team of the Year at the Oxfordshire Sports Partner-ship awards last Friday, scored twice in the opening seven minutes of the second half through Simon Boardman.

Chichester pulled one back and their player-coach, former GB international Ben Barnes, came on and shored up the defence. They then turned the game around, scoring three more times, with Will Blockley, sealing the points in the last minute.

City of Oxford got back to winning ways in Division 1 with a 2-0 victory over Leighton Buzzard.

City had two goals disallowed in the first half. They went in front after the break through a penalty flick from Chris Brougham, and Clive Davies increased their lead.

Wallingford remain unbeaten in second place after a tough 3-2 win against South Bucks in Slough.

They opened the scoring with a slick passing move, finished off by Jon Brown, who scored again to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.

Tom Bugg added Walling-ford’s third with a flick from the top of the D but S Bucks got one back in the dying minutes of the first half.

The home side then got a second to set up a tense last 15 minutes but Wallingford managed to hold out.

Abingdon were too good for a poor Witney team in Division 1, triumphing 5-1 for their first win of the season.

A four-goal burst midway through the first half effectively sealed the match.

Robin Staniland forced the ball over the line for the opener and for the next ten minutes, Abingdon seemed to score at will.

Josh Tomlinson got a brace, David Pegg made it four and Owen Blackburn chipped a deft reverse stick shot over the advancing keeper before Grahame Matthews scored Witney’s consolation goal.

Bottom club Bicester were beaten 4-1 at Sunbury. Wayne Dobson scored their goal from a short corner routine.
