Didcot Town boss Stuart Peace says his side faces the toughest test of the season on Saturday when they take on Division 1 South & West new boys AFC Totton. The Railwaymen went top of the league on Tuesday after a 5-0 thrashing of Burnham, but Peace is expecting a battled against the newly-promoted side. The Stags, who boast seven-goal striker James Taylor in their ranks, had a fantastic start to their campaign, going top before dropping outside the play-off places due to their FA Cup and FA Trophy exertions.

But Peace believes they will be a difficult proposition.

“Totton are a decent side and they will be up there at the end of the season,” said Peace, who welcomes back skipper Jamie Heapy from a ban.

“It will be a good test for us and will give us a good indication of what we need to do to challenge for honours.

“They will have some very good players, but so have we. I’m more concerned about what we do.

“It’s our biggest game of the season. As long as we are on our mettle, that’s my main concerned.”

Peace said he was pleased his side were at the top, but is not getting carried away.

He added: “We were aware a win against Burnham would put us top of the league, but we haven’t really talked about it.

“It’s about staying in touch with the teams at the top into the new year.

“We need to be in there. I don’t think anyone will run away with the league this season. Gosport and Bridgwater are having some good results.

“It’s where you are in April that matters, not 12 games in. I think that is far too premature.”

Former Oxford United youngster Chris Weedon could make his North Leigh debut at home to Bridgwater after starring for the reserves.

Fellow teenager Dan Sadler is added to the squad, though defender Andrew Helby is suspended.

Banbury United will be without Kameron Abassi for their trip to Chippenham in the Premier Division.

The defender was carried off with an ankle ligament injury during their 1-1 draw at Clevedon.
