Sophie Grimson hit a hat-trick as the Oxford Mail Girls League Under 12 represenative side beat Gloucester 5-1.

Vicky Standen fired home the opener and the game was effectively over by half time.

The second goal came from a run on the right wing by Charlie Escourt, who shot high into the net from the corner of the penalty area.

Grimson netted her first before the break when the ball broke to her on the right and her chip went over the Gloucester keeper into the top right-hand corner.

And Grimson added her second, turning sharply to score low to the keepers’ left.

The second half proved a much closer affair, Grimson striking a post before completing her hat-trick from close range.

Gloucester bagged a late consolation goal, but this was a job well done by Oxford.

The under 10s also posted a good result as they saw off Gloucester 3-1.

Strikes from Mollie Dyer, Jordan Harris and Karolayne Byrome were more than enough, with Gloucester’s reply an own goal.

Dyer opened the scoring, before Harris doubled the lead with a wonderful strike from distance.

After four substitutions at half-time, Byrom completed the scoring with No 3.

Oxford’s under 14s were out of luck as they lost 4-2 to Gloucester.

Oxford scored through Georgia Luckhurst and Jess Hummer.

They were dealt a blow, when they lost keeper Kiaya Makin through injury just before half-time.

The under 16s slipped to a heavy 7-0 defeat against Gloucester.

Gloucester went in front in the first minute, and led 5-0 by half-time.

A much-improved second-half performance saw Oxford battle hard for a consolation, with Tasha Kenny going close.

However, Gloucester scored two more to wrap up victory.
