A display full of pace and passion earned Oxford University an impressive 32-24 victory over Saracens at Iffley Road on Monday night.

This was a similar line-up to the Saracens side that destroyed Varsity rivals Cambridge 59-15 last week, so offered Oxford’s toughest opposition of the campaign.

But with young wingers Sean Morris and Will Browne leading the way, the Dark Blues built a clear lead and held on at the end.

A quick line-out saw Chris Mahony create Oxford’s opening try for Morris on seven minutes, which Stuart O’Flanagan converted.

Scrum half Mickey Wilson sniped over for an equaliser, converted by 17-year-old Owen Farrell.

But once Saracens skipper Jackson Wray went off injured, Oxford took control with an O’Flanagan penalty and Morris’s second try.

O’Flanagan converted his own score after Saracens prop Jordan Mitchell had been sin-binned.

Centre Sam Humphry-Baker forced his way over to make it 27-7 just after the break.

Saracens hit back with tries from replacement scrum half Brendan McKibbin, converted by Farrell, and full back Mike Stanley.

Replacement prop Kevin Davis finally drove over after huge Oxford pressure, but there was still time for a second try from McKibbin.
