Witney weightlifter Flik Denham landed the under 23 British title in the 75kg category at Kilmarnock.
Denham, 18, snatched 55kg and clean and jerked 75kg for a combined weight of 130kg.
This was 17kg better than her last competition and a personal best.
Denham has had a tough year, and could not train for five months due to injury.
When she was able to restart training, her club facility in Oxford Hill was condemned due to flooding.
Fortunately for Denham, a new training venue was found at Oxford Rugby Club in North Hinksey.
Weightlifting certainly runs in Denham’s family.
Her mother, Diane, who was also coached by Alan Winterbourne, won the British title in the 52kg category 20 years ago.
Diane said: “I don’t think there are many people who have coached two generations to become British champions.
“I am proud that Flik is following in my footsteps, and hope she gets into the national squad.”
