Oxford City welcome back their former Oxford United duo of Dave Savage and Jamie Brooks when they travel to Dartford in the FA Trophy second qualifying round tomorrow.

The pair were cup-tied last weekend when they lost 1-0 at Eastbourne Borough, but are raring to go as City look to make the first round at the expense of the Ryman Premier League outfit.

Player-manager Justin Merritt said: “I think after the disappointment of the game, the players were reasonably pleased they could step up to Eastbourne’s level.

“As well as being without Savage, Brooks and Baird, Michael Lyon and Darren Pond weren’t fit, so we were without five others. “Dartford have won their last few games and it will be a big challenge for us. As usual we wil try to win the game, but it’s going to be tough.

“There’s going to be a big crowd and there will be a good atmosphere. But the players won’t be fazed.

“They played in front of a big crowd last week and they enjoyed it.”

Merritt, whose side can earn £3,000 by winning added: “It’s a tournament we want to stay in.

“We enjoyed playing against a Conference side in the FA Cup and are keen to do it again the Trophy.”

Andy Baird is out with an ankle injury, while Craig Faulconbridge is banned.
