Didcot Town boss Stuart Peace wants his side to be more ruthless in front of goal when they travel to Bracknell in Division 1 South & West.

Town created a host of chances against Swindon Supermarine in Tuesday’s GX Cup, only to go down to a 2-1 defeat.

“We played excellently,” said Peace who fielded a number of youngsters in the side.

“And we should have won by two or three goals. My strikers missed a few one on ones and then our keeper made an error.

“On 89 minutes, Osborne-Ricketts struck the bar and a post.

“They were at the top of their league and we caused them all sorts of problems. It won’t knock our confidence.

“Now it’s just a case of keeping it up at Bracknell. When chances come along we have to take them.”

Peace’s side will go top if results go for them.

“I’m not thinking about that yet, it’s far too early.”

Didcot welcome back midfielder Richard Witt from suspension.

North Leigh welcome back Karl Dodds and Paul Cooper for their trip to Beaconsfield.

The duo were rested for their GX Cup midweek win against Woodford.

“I think it will be a good test,” said manager Mark Gee, whose side are seventh.

“They were promoted like us, so it will show far we have progressed.

“They had a good start, but they have fallen away a bit, while we have had a hit and miss season. I’m looking for us to be tighter at the back.

“I’m pleased with the way it’s going, we’ve not been outclassed.”

Past and present players will be heading for the club on November 15 when they stage their centenary celebration evening.

They are hoping that the side that won the Oxford-shire Junior Shield in 1983 will attend the event which starts at 8pm.

Abingdon United could give a full debut to former Hednesford Town midfielder Matt Biddle when they make the long trip to Taunton.

Biddle, 20, left the Unibond Premier Division side after enrolling as a student at Southampton University.

Boss Andy Slater said: “He’s very competitive and can pick a pass.

“One of our players, Tom Austin, is on the same course as Matt so he can give him a lift.”

Banbury United are set to give a debut to midfielder Richard Groves after signing him on loan from Oxford United. He is in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier Division home game against Halesowen
