Burford will clinch the Section 1 title in the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League on Sunday by beating Tadmarton Heath in their final game.

But Frilford Heath are poised to land the title should Burford slip up.

A 3-0 victory over Tadmarton, who they also meet in Saturday's league knockout final, gave Frilford a two-point lead.

If Burford draw with Tadmarton to finish level with Frilford on 25 points, the latter will be champions due to their better head-to-head record.

Frilford's 3-0 defeat of Tadmarton was far from one-way traffic, with Ashley Walton and Ben Paterson's one-hole win over Spencer Hallam and Andre Mason a case in point.

Burford were held to a draw at The Oxfordshire with Simon Hopkins and Dean Yates picking up their only win.

But Burford's west Oxfordshire rivals Chipping Norton were relegated to Section 2 despite having been joint top with just two matches left to play.

Chippy, champions in 2006, lost 2-1 at already-relegated Studley Wood, and go down after picking up just one point from their final two matches.

Oxford City claimed the Section 2 title by half a point from Maganolia Park after winning 2-1 at home to Drayton Park, but both the top two are promoted.

Drayton suffered their second successive relegation after finishing bottom.

Shrivenham Park finished top of Section 3, with Bicester also going up.

Bicester began the day on top, but lost 3-0 at Witney Lakes, who go down with Hadden Hill and Kirtlington.

This allowed Shrivenham, who beat Mentmore 3-0 with two matches decided on the final hole, to finish ahead of them.

Champions Buckingham and Waterstock are promoted from Section 4.
