Sutton Courtenay gained a dramatic 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over Grove Rangers in an amazing War Memorial Cup first-round tie, which finished 5-5 after extra time, writes ANDY WELLS.

Visitors Grove found themselves 4-0 down after 27 minutes with Michael Hooton, Kearan Russell, Wayne Grant and Danny Cox doing the damage.

To add to Rangers' misery, Ben Williams had a penalty brilliantly palmed away by Sutton keeper Marc Cooke just before half-time.

Matty Booker and Williams grabbed late goals for Grove in the second half, which saw an incredible finish with Dave Scott and substitute Dave Stebbings scoring in stoppage time to force extra time.

Before that could get under way, Sutton Courtenay manager Steve Cox was sent to the clubhouse for foul and abusive language.

Stebbings then gave Grove the lead, before Sutton Courtenay's Vinny Cooper had a penalty saved by Stuart Tofter.

However, with six minutes left, Karl Crockford fired home the equaliser and Sutton Courtenay took the tie on penalty kicks.

Division 3 leaders Botley United claimed the scalp of Division 2 pacesetters Didcot Casuals with a 3-1 win.

Mark Penner, Kevin Cooper and Chris Potter netted for Botley, with Jamie Newport replying.

Division 2 side East Hendred took the lead three times at home to third division Benson Lions – but still went out 4-3.

Graeme Munro (2), Jon Radcliffe and Chris Armstrong were the Benson marksmen.

Long Wittenham overcame Division 3 rivals Childrey United 2-0, with a goal apiece from Tim Barton and Andy Marriott.

In Division 1, leaders Saxton Rovers made it five wins from five with a 6-0 victory at Harwell International.

James Clarke, Tom Aldworth, a Danny Parry penalty, Rob Johnson, Ben Parry and Paul Churchouse shared the goals.

Blewbury stepped up their challenge with a 2-1 win at Lambourn Sports.

Adam Bailey and John Hedges grabbed first-half goals for Blewbury, before Matthew Pedder pulled one back from the penalty spot after the break.

Even without leading scorer Danny Curran, Drayton brushed aside Ardington & Lockinge 4-0.

Debutant Bobby Pearson and Billy Warner netted in the first half, with Robert Hudson and Kevin Giddings sealing victory after the break.
