Oxford Harlequins' victory over Chippenham was well received by new coach John Brodley.

He said: "The spirits have been lifted and we've just got to carry it on.

"At any time I would just take a win. I'm not after the classiest performance all the time.

"I was very pleased, especially with our first-half performance.

"Playing into the wind, I thought Anthony Cope and Huw Jones just controlled the game.

"I was very pleased with the forward effort.

"We stopped quite a lot of their short drives and turned over the ball.

"We scored first in the second half and then we started playing the game in the wrong part of the field.

"If we had just kept it together I expected us to pull away and win more comfortably than we did.

"We were almost victims of over confidence, but we finished well."
