Six young athletes from Abingdon Amblers had their first taste of top level competition when they competed in the National Road Relay Championships at Sutton Park in Birmingham.
With each athlete covering a testing 3.8km circuit, the under 15 girls team of Molly Warne, Ellie Wilkins and Lucie Webb finished 60th, while the boys team of Josh Beech, Owen Stepney and Dan Stainthorp was 56th.
WITNEY Roadrunners' juniors got their Oxfordshire Sportshall League off to a fine start with wins in the first three races of the day at the Windrush Leisure Centre.
In the under 11 girls' obstacle race, first-timers Lydia Simmonds and Jessica Barker were joined by Bethan Williams and Imogen Pitson to record victory, while under 11 boys Matthew Dodge, Matthew Lock, Aaron Cook and Henry Macke triumphed in their race.
The under 13 girls did likewise, with newcomers Natasha Gough, Lydia Miles and Ellie Simmonds joining forces with Kara McLoughlin to cross the line first.
