Rover Oxford's spirited performance was not enough as they crashed 8-0 away to a well-drilled University of Birmingham in Slazenger England League Conference West.
Rover battled hard, but with a 4-0 deficit at half-time, it was an uphill struggle in the second half.
The visitors played well in patches and forced the Birmingham girls to play hockey around them, but the students' slick finishing proved too much, and another four goals went in during the second half.
