City of Oxford stormed to victory in the National League’s Division 1 first-round gala at Temple Cowley.

The host club won a staggering 20 events to finish 20 points ahead of second-placed Wycombe.

Chris Aust delivered maximum points in his two individual races.

He kick-started the evening with an inspirational win in the men’s 100m individual medley.

He followed this up with a convincing three-second victory in the 100m freestyle.

City's 11 & under girls team were outstanding with Lucy Smith winning the individual 50m butterfly and taking second place in the 50m breaststroke.

Bethany Melville stole the 11 and under 50m freestyle and Millie Royal clinched second place in the 50m backstroke.

Together with Elizabeth Oliver, they were unbeatable in the freestyle and medley relays, winning both by massive seven-second margins.

Smith also swam the final leg to seal victory for City in the 13 & under freestyle and medley relays, teaming up with Emma Lomas, Molly Williamson and Charlotte Alsop.

In the 13 & under 100m butterfly, Williamson trounced her rivals, while Lomas won the 13 & under 100m breaststroke.

Swimming up in the men’s category, 15-year-old Sam van de Schootbrugge finished first in the 100m butterfly and was pipped into second place by 0.005 in the men's 100m backstroke.

Carly Hayles, also 15, swam superbly to win the ladies' 100m backstroke by three seconds.

City went on to dominate this event with Drew Finnigan and Thomas Panton victorious in the 15 and under and the 13 and under age groups respectively.

Fifteen-year-old Ben Chapman was another in-form swimmer.

Pipped into second place in the 100m freestyle, he formed part of the invincible 15 & under freestyle and medley teams with Finnigan, van de Schootbrugge and Max Williamson.

Fourteen-year-old Hannah Vine also helped teammates Kezia Pullinger, Pippa Smith and Leanne Brooks to victory in the 15 and under freestyle relay.

Thomasso Papagello finished second in the 13 & under 100m butterfly and third in the 15 & under event.

Together with Thomas Panton, Joshua Royal and Alex Murphy, he swam to victory in the 13 & under freestyle relay.

Steve Williams completed the powerful squad of Aust, Williamson, Chapman, Finnigan and van de Schootbrugge, which finished the night with victory in the 6x50m freestyle relay.
