Horse & Harrow pulled off a surprise 3-2 victory over reigning national champions Nelson to win the All England Team Area final, writes PETE EWINS.

They now go on to represent Oxfordshire in the national finals in Reading on Sunday.

Gary Johnson got Horse off to a flying start with a 11,710 (break 8,730)-2,260 win over Mark Trafford.

Keith Sheard then looked like levelling for Nelson, only to miss a ball in front of the 100 pocket which let in Dennis Atkins for a 5,690-2,730 victory.

Stephen Sheard did reduce the deficit after hitting a break of 10,290, but it proved in vain as Maxi McDonnell (5,740) beat Pauline Withey – who lost a break of just over 4,000 – to make it 3-1.

Kevin Godfrey beat Paul Lawson in the deciding game, but it could not detract from Horse's great success.
