Oxford City Stars dished out a real lesson to Streatham Redskins in their Division 1 South clash – romping to a 13-1 victory.

It was only Redskins' second defeat of the season – both inflicted by Oxford – and keeps Stars top of the table with just one defeat from their seven matches.

The victory was all the more pleasing as when Oxford beat Streatham 5-3 earlier in the season, Redskins were missing eight regular players.

But although they were at full-strength, Stars were simply too good.

They got off to a flying start with three goals inside the opening five minutes.

Andrew Shurmer fired them ahead after just a minute, before Nick Eden doubled the lead and Darren Elliot made it 3-0.

From then on it was a ridiculously one-sided affair with Streatham unable to mount any form of attack.

Andy Cox broke his two-year scoring drought after ten minutes, tapping in a rebound from a Richie Hargreaves effort.

The only cheer for Redskins came in the 13th minute when Shane Walsh converted from close-range after Oxford failed to pick up their men for the only time in the game.

But that was almost their last effort on goal, as Stars soon restored their four-goal cushion with Joe Edwards scoring the first of his four-timer.

Armour scored again a minute into the second period, before Elliott grabbed another to make it 7-1.

Stars continued to pour forward and looked like scoring every time they attacked.

Sam Broughton managed to score on his knees and Elliott then completed his hat-trick.

Edwards was the next to find the net, his second of the game making it 10-1 at the end of the second period.

Edwards then needed less than two minutes of the final period to notch his treble, and moments later scored his fourth after being sent clear by Armour.

The icing on the cake came when Mike Hargreaves was in the right place as the puck took a fortuitous bounce off him into the net.

Oxford Stars next take to the ice in two weeks when they face a top-of-the-table clash in Berkshire against high-flying Bracknell Hornets on Saturday, October 25.

They then entertain Cardiff Devils the following night at home in Oxford.
