Oxford United and Oxford City got the draws they were hoping for in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

The U's will take on Hayes & Yeading United at the Kassam Stadium, while City face United's Blue Square Premier rivals Eastbourne Borough at Court Place Farm.

The ties are on Saturday, October 25 (3pm).

Although Hayes & Yeading lie third in Blue Square South, it's a game United will be confident of winning – and progressing in the competition could be vital to the cash-strapped club.

"We're pleased to be at home, it's very important and especially against a side like that," said United skipper Joe Burnell.

"It would be a potential banana skin if we were away, but we should be confident of getting through at home.

"It will be a welcome distraction. Had we been going very well in the league, we might not have wanted an FA Cup game to come around, but right now I'm sure we'll all be really looking forward to it."

The 32 fourth qualifying round winners each receive £12,500 prize money (up £2,500 from last season) and a run in the competition would prove very lucrative, with first-round winners getting a further £20,000 from the FA prize fund.

Hayes & Yeading were only formed in May 2007 following a merger of Hayes FC and Yeading FC, and finished last season 13th in Blue Square South.

Three years ago, Yeading lost 2-0 to Newcastle in the third round in front of nearly 11,000 in a match switched to Loftus Road.

The tie in 12 days' time will be another important game for the future of boss Darren Patterson after the U's followed up their fine win over Rushden and good result at Torquay with Sunday's disappointing 1-0 defeat at Altrincham.

New chairman Kelvin Thomas said when he took over that he didn't want to continually comment on the manager just because of one poor result.

"We have got to be careful not to make knee-jerk announcements if we go from a good result to a bad result," he stressed.
