Oxford United recently tried to get Torquay's midfield maestro Chris Hargreaves and bring him back to the club.
But the former U's skipper, who is a player-coach at Torquay, said he was settled on the Devon Riviera and didn't want to move again.
Hargreaves revealed that Oxford inquired about trying to get him back before the August transfer deadline.
The 36-year-old, who is captain and very much the club's senior pro, helps coach The Gulls along with manager Paul Buckle and assistant Shaun North, the former Oxford United coach.
He has been in superb form in the past month as Torquay have won five and drawn one of their last six games – the draw itself a good result, as it came at Wrexham.
Their recent resurgence has coincided with Buckle's decision to recall Hargreaves to central midfield after trying him out in defence at the start of the season.
