Didcot Tn 1 (Bartley 58)

Andover 2 (Turvey 7, Swayne 62)

Didcot's stuttering home form continued with a disappointing defeat to fellow Southern League side Andover on Saturday in the FA Trophy.

The hosts played with the wind at their backs in the first half, but it was Andover who took the lead with their first attack.

A mix-up between defenders Ricky Allaway and Martin Brown saw both players laid out on the ground, while Mike Turvey rounded Michael Watkins and slid the ball into an empty net.

The home side were unlucky not to hit straight back as Jack King’s dipping volley thudded against the underside of the bar then the inside of the post before bouncing clear.

Early in the second half, Kyle Swayne brought a stunning diving save from Watkins and only a last-ditch tackle from Martin Brown prevented Turvey from doubling the visitors' lead.

But the introduction of Elliott Osborne-Ricketts and Richard Witt had an instant impact and Didcot drew level in the 58th minute.

Neville Roach fired a low cross into the box, and Michael Bartley shot home into the far corner of the net.

Osborne-Ricketts shot narrowly wide and then King fired another effort over the bar.

But Andover soon regained the lead. Swayne tried his luck from 25 yards, and the wind-assisted shot flew into the top corner of the goal.

Watkins kept the score down as he made a couple of excellent saves from Turvey and Ashley Jarvis.

Near the end, the impressive Osborne-Ricketts forced Hook into a good diving save, but Andover deserved their win.
