Susan Blunsden, from Bicester, battled through the pain barrier as she retained her 30+ recreational women's artistic title at the British Veteran Championships in Ipswich.
Two weeks before the competition, Blunsden fell awkwardly while training on the trampoline, damaging her rib cartilage.
Against the advice of her physiotherapist, she did some light training.
In the competition itself, Blundsen performed a spectacular floor routine to clinch the gold medal.
Her sister, Carrie-Anne, also competing in the 30+ age group, secured silver for her set and compulsory routines.
