Rissington was back to its best for the penultimate 2008 Carp League match.
With one match left in this year's series, it remains tight at the top, with Nick Dean, Matt Ryman, Rob Guppy and Andy Benwell all in with a shout of the title.
Fishing the long pole, Nick (Maggots End) was the clear winner with 210.08.0.
Nick fished caster shallow for the first half of the match and then switched to the 6 metre line with meat.
Series organiser Andy, took second place with a net of carp going 154.06.0, alternating between paste and maggot down the edge.
In third was Steve Johnson, who took 148.04.0 fishing the long pole with maggot.
The final match in the series is tomorrow.
Lower Court fished OK for the 17 matchman who took part in the Witney’s FW Bridgman match.
It was hard work for the anglers, and I suppose the fish take a bit of a battering through the season, so they are entitled to a day off!
Fishing the pole with either pellet or maggot hard on the bottom, Phil Weston was the clear winner with 59.14.0 of carp.
In second place was Clive Taylor with 36.12.0 of carp.
Dave Wilsdon was third with 33.08.00, fishing a waggler with dog biscuit floaters.
Yarnton & District were over on Clattercote for their club match, and Nick Collier, from peg 26, came out on top.
Nick weighed in 51.01.00 of carp on the pellet waggler.
Using the feeder with maggot Roy Cox had 21.03.0 of carp for second place and third with 17.10.0 was Andy Gardner. Andy had a mixed bag of roach and carp.
Juniors Harry Oliver came fourth with 15.12.0.
Dorchester fished an inter-league match over at Glebe Lake, and although it was up and coloured, it fished well for the eight anglers.
Alternating between fishing right out to on the inside with maggot, Lol Budd netted carp and orfe weighing in at 26.09.0.
Lol’s brother Ted Budziszewski did enough with 24.08.0 for second place. Ted fished the pole down the inside with either pellet or maggot.
Fishing mainly bread in different forms, Ian Fisher was third with 17.10.0 of orfe, tench and carp.
There was a good turn out of 22 for Sutton Courtenay’s individual championship match at Buscot Park.
Fishing worm over chop, Steve Wheatley caught bream and skimmers for a winning 25.02.0.
Also on the pole and worm, Bob Gosbee netted skimmers, tench and crucians for a second place 19.12.0.
Dave James got among the skimmers and roach on worm for a third-place weight of 16.06.0.
Milton Pools was the venue for the Oxford Bus AC, where ten fished.
Pete Clarke on peg two used caster as the bait to emerged the winner, putting some decent carp on the scales for 23.08.0.
Dennis Butler fished pellet at around 5 metres under a tree, where he caught carp weighing in at 20.06.0.
Sat on the opposite corner to Dennis was Mark Heath, who finished third with 13.07.0. Mark fished the pellet alternating between the margins and 5 metres.
With the Thames running high and coloured, it was hard work for the six fisherman at Chalmore fishing the Jolly Anglers Berks/Oxon.
Steve Johnson, fishing pole and maggot, was an easy winner with 08.06.0.
Bill Davies put 02.02.0 on the scales for second place using maggot down the inside.
Phil Ansell used a groundbait feeder with maggot, and caught some bits for a third-place 02.02.0.
North Oxford moved their Pixie Shield from Carrotts to the canal at the A40.
Steve Foster had 8.03.00 of skimmers on pole and alternating between punch and maggot to take the shield.
Maurice Winstone weighed in a net of perch weighing 06.08.0 on the chop for second place, while third, with 04.08.00 was Alan Bateman putting in some groundbait and then fishing maggot over the top.
