Oxford United midfielder Phil Trainer has given boss Darren Patterson a boost after making a successful return from a foot injury in a friendly against Kidlington last night.
Trainer has missed the season after breaking a metatarsal during pre-season training.
Although the U's lost 3-0 to the Hellenic League side, Trainer reported no ill effects after coming off at half time and could be part of the squad for Saturday's home clash against Crawley.
U's assistant manager Mickey Lewis, who took charge against Kidlington, said: "Phil is a fit lad and provided he reports no reaction then his return would be a real bonus for us."
