Billy Turley got his first taste of match action since his shoulder operation when United played a friendly against Brentford.
"He played 60 minutes and came through OK, but we'll have to see what he's like in the morning, to see whether he has any reaction," said boss Darren Patterson afterwards.
Brentford won the behind-closed-doors game 2-1, with Adam Bowerman scoring the goal for United, who had a young side out, plus a sprinkling of senior players like Turley and Matt Day.
"Some of the kids were outstanding," said Patto. "They gave me a lot of encouragement, because with injuries, we may need to call on one or two of them."
