PETER Kioso made his international debut as DR Congo were beaten in stoppage time by Ethiopia in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Oxford United right back played the first 45 minutes and was then taken off at half-time as part of a triple change.

Ethiopia had taken the lead nine minutes before the break via Bereket Desta Dana, while DR Congo thought they had earned an equaliser two minutes into second half injury time through Saint-Etienne centre back Dylan Batubinsika.

Mohammednur Nasir though restored the Ethiopia lead four minutes later, although the result was a formality as DR Congo had already qualified.

Last month, Kioso received his first international call-up when he was promoted from an initial standby list following an injury to Ipswich Town defender Axel Tuanzebe.

However, Kioso wasn’t involved in a double-header of qualifiers against Tanzania, and also watched from the bench last week when DR Congo suffered a stoppage time 1-0 defeat against Guinea.

Meanwhile, Mark Harris again led the line for Wales, this time in their 4-1 UEFA Nations League victory at home to Iceland, a result which saw Wales promoted to the top tier of the Nations League.

Iceland took an early lead through Andri Gudjohnsen, but a Liam Cullen brace before the break put Wales in front.

Harris was replaced by Joe Allen after 65 minutes, with Brennan Johnson adding a third for Wales shortly after, while Harry Wilson netted the fourth goal with 11 minutes to go.

Harris also started up front as Wales were held to a goalless draw away to Turkey at the weekend, but was taken off at half-time following a nasty clash of heads with teammate Joe Rodon.
