ROSS Jenkins says Oxford City need to ‘get back to basics’ as the Hoops look to climb out of the Vanarama National League North relegation places.
Jenkins returned to City to replace the sacked Sam Cox at the end of September, having previously earned a historic promotion with the Hoops into the National League.
He has overseen the 3-2 defeat at home to Gosport Borough in the Emirates FA Cup third qualifying round and the 2-2 draw at Scunthorpe United in the league.
The Hoops though are second from bottom in the table, with just one win in 10.

Jenkins said: “It’s a new group of boys I’ve got to learn about. There’s a core of players that I know of really well inside out, so I don’t need to worry about that too much.
“The boys that came in during pre-season, it’s important we know and understand them. Each week, I’m learning more about them.
“We’ve definitely seen things over the past few weeks which have been promising signs.”
He added: “Everyone will get a chance, it’s important for everyone to know that. It’s a clean slate for some.
“Some of the boys I know inside out, so there’s no real slate with them. I know what they can deliver, and we need to get back to those levels because I don’t believe they have done over the start of the season.
“It’s more about the physical at the moment than the actual in-possession stuff. I’m not too worried about the in-possession stuff at the moment.
“We have to get back to basics and get our fitness levels up, and get our shape, and some of our basics right because they’ve been slacking a little bit.
“I know the standards of what they can achieve because of what they’ve done in the promotion season and in the National League.”
