JORDAN Flynn is looking forward to getting back in the ring at the home of British boxing.
The Cowley fighter is getting set for his first bout since April, when he beat Tanzanian boxer Tampela Maharusi 59-54 on points in a six-round battle.
Flynn was due to fight Cameron Vuong in April, but the bout was cancelled due to a ‘minor injury’ suffered by Vuong, and two months later, Flynn was forced to postpone the rescheduled clash after a knee injury suffered during a sparring session required surgery.
Fully recovered now, Flynn is 10 days away from a six-round lightweight fight against an as of yet unconfirmed opponent at London’s York Hall on October 26.

Flynn told this newspaper: “It’s been annoying with the whole Cameron situation and the knee injury, but the recovery has gone a lot quicker than it would for other people.
“It’s nice to get a fight in, and then we can aim for a bigger fight in December. I’ve got to focus on getting the win and then I can look ahead to December.
“I’m in a good place. I’ve always been about long-term goals despite these setbacks. Injuries and these things happen, and it’s about focusing on things mentally and my long-term goals.
“It’s just annoying and puts a pause to what you can do in your progress. I’ve been in the rehab, and I’ve been back in a full camp with sparring, swimming and everything else.
“I was sparring with Mark Chamberlain in Portsmouth before his fight at Wembley, and I continued down here to spar and get on with the camp.
“I get on well with his coach, and I used to spar with Mark a few years ago, and I’ve been learning things there with the coaches.”

Flynn, who has won three times on points at York Hall previously, added: “York Hall is the home of boxing. It’s a historic place and it feels good to be back under the lights.
“You do all this training for one night, and I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring.”
Asked about the potential for a grudge fight against Vuong, and where that might take place, Flynn said: “Everyone still wants this Cameron fight, but it’ll have to be early next year. It’s a fight that has to happen.
“We want to get in the ring, people are demanding it, and I’m constantly getting messages about it.
“The postponements only add to the hype around it, and just make it get bigger, so it’s not a bad thing.
“If we can get on a Saudi show, then it doesn’t get any bigger than that right now. The fights are happening there, and I’d like to think we can get it on there. It’s hopefully something that can happen.”
