TYLER Goodrham is focusing mainly on club football with Oxford United after not being picked for international duty with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s.

Goodrham obtained Irish citizenship last year, and is eligible to represent the Republic of Ireland through his Irish grandmother on his father’s side of the family.

The 21-year-old was called up by the Under-21s last August, for European Championship qualifiers against Turkey and San Marino, but he suffered a hip problem while with the camp, and left before he could make his debut.

Since then, Goodrham hasn’t received a further call-up, and for now, he says that international duty is taking a sidestep when it comes to his main priorities.

Asked whether a potential call-up was on his mind, Goodrham responded: “Probably not at the moment, with everything going on in my personal life. I’ve just bought a house, and we’re trying to get all that sorted.

“My missus is pregnant, so I’m trying to focus on that, and get all those bits sorted.

“It’s maybe one to focus on in a few weeks’ time, but right now, it’s focusing on club football.”

Goodrham has made an impressive start to life in Sky Bet Championship with the U’s, and has made six appearances across all competitions this season, scoring twice, including a sensational long-range strike in United’s 3-1 win at home to Preston North End last time out.

Republic of Ireland’s Under-21s visit Istanbul for a European Championship qualifier against Turkey this evening, before a home qualifier against Latvia on Tuesday.
