Brown has played four times for the U’s this season, scoring once, in the 3-2 defeat at Coventry City in Sky Bet Championship earlier this month.
The 26-year-old initially joined United on loan in January 2022 from Cardiff City, before signing on a permanent basis when his Bluebirds contract expired.
Since signing for the U’s as a permanent player in June 2022, Brown has won seven of his 19 caps for Northern Ireland.
He is the second United player to receive an international call-up this week, after Mark Harris was named in Craig Bellamy’s first Wales squad.
Harris has scored three goals in three Championship games this season, backing up the 19 strikes netted across all competitions last season, as the U’s won promotion to the second tier.
Harris has won five caps for Wales already, the last of which was in June 2022.
Wales host Turkey in a Nations League clash on September 6, before visiting Montenegro in the same competition on September 9.
