Oxfordshire's own Olympian Jade O’Dowda has received a heartfelt message from her former school.

The 24-year-old is currently competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she is competing in the heptathlon.

She won a bronze medal in the heptathlon at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and has continued to build on that success ever since.

In June, she finished seventh overall in the heptathlon at the European Athletics Championships in Rome.

O’Dowda, from Kidlington, went sixth on the UK all-time list after finishing with 6,314 points, her personal best.

But now, all eyes are on the Olympics.

Gosford Hill School posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Former student Jade O’Dowda currently sits in 11th place in the Olympic heptathlon with 800m left to go. A brilliant performance so far, we are very proud of your efforts! Enjoy the last event."

Gosford Hill School is a co-educational secondary school with academy status in the village of Kidlington.

O’Dowda has shone so far on her Olympic debut and is considered one of the brightest future stars in the Heptathlon event.

O’Dowda is the younger sister of former Oxford United winger Callum O’Dowda.

The 29-year-old came through the academy at United, before joining Bristol City in July 2016. He then signed for Cardiff City in June 2022 on a three-year deal.
