OXFORD United have made their first loan signing of the summer transfer window with the acquisition of Crystal Palace winger Malcolm Ebiowei.
The 20-year-old has been a long-term target for United, who were interested in signing Ebiowei on loan during Karl Robinson’s final summer as head coach in 2022.
The U’s are understood to have been keen on adding Palace duo Ebiowei and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but neither move materialised.
United have now landed Ebiowei, who has joined on a season-long loan.

He told the club website: “I’m really excited to be here at Oxford United and I can’t wait to get going.
“I think this will be the place for me to really flourish as a player and I want to give my all for this badge.
“I want to have an important role and do everything I can to meet the ambitions of the football club and I am very excited for that first game against Norwich City and to meet the fans.”
Ebiowei made his professional debut for Derby County in February 2022, making 16 Sky Bet Championship appearances during the 2021/22 campaign.
He then joined Palace on a five-year deal in June 2022, and made his debut as the Eagles were beaten 2-0 at home to Arsenal.
Four more first team appearances followed, before Ebiowei joined Hull City on loan in January 2023, playing 12 times in the Championship.
Last season, Ebiowei moved to RWD Molenbeek on loan in the Belgian Pro League, the top flight in Belgium.
He becomes the eleventh player to join the U’s this summer, following goalkeepers Jamie Cumming, Matt Ingram and Jacob Knightbridge, full backs Jack Currie and Peter Kioso, midfield trio Idris El Mizouni, Louie Sibley and Will Vaulks, and wingers Matt Phillips and Przemyslaw Placheta.
