Emma Raducanu will not play professional tennis with Andy Murray again after this week’s developments.

The 21-year-old caused controversy at Wimbledon this summer after choosing to back out of the mixed doubles when she was due to play alongside the Scotsman.

Raducanu instead opted to play it safe after waking up with soreness in her wrist and decided to focus on her own singles push.

But this did not go to plan as the young player’s tournament ended on Sunday in a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 loss to New Zealand qualifier Lulu Sun.

She then decided to turn down the chance to play at the Olympics in Paris this summer over concerns relating to the clay courts.

"I'm very single-minded and I do things my own way and in my own time whenever I want," said Raducanu.

"So not in a diva way, [I'm] just prioritising my body and my health because I know if I'm fit, I know if I'm giving my 100 per cent, I know great things are happening and coming.

"I just don't think there's any need to put additional stress on my body or any risk, especially with my history."

Clay is the slowest of the three court types in comparison to Wimbledon's grass surface which is the fastest.

Raducanu will next play at the US Open but this will mean that there will be no reunion for her and Murray given his own decision to retire after the Olympics.

The pair had never played together before but had been set to at Wimbledon after the partnership had been “years in the making” according to the duo.
