OXFORD United are not in a position where they need to sell any of their most prized assets, says head coach Des Buckingham.
Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion have been tenuously linked with Cameron Brannagan this summer, while Swansea City have been rumoured to be interested in Mark Harris.
Tyler Goodrham’s remarkable progress over the last two years has also seen his name linked with a move during that time, but Buckingham was clear that United’s main jewels are not for sale.

He said: “The beauty of this club is that it’s a very stable club. We’re not in a position where we need to sell, even if we were to get a good bid for one of our players.
“We’re not in a position where we need to sell, or that we necessarily want to sell anyone. That’s always a great position to be in.
“That’s the stance we have at the moment on players that we don’t want to leave.
“We’re trying to build a squad that can compete and be successful in the Championship, and we feel we’ve got a squad that can do that.”

The U’s meanwhile reportedly showed ‘initial interest’ in Slovenia midfielder Timi Max Elsnik, who caught the eye while playing for his country at this summer’s Euros.
Slovenia made it through to the last 16, and Elsnik started all four games, grabbing an assist against Serbia in the group stage.
Reportedly available for £1.25 million this summer, it would be a costly addition to a midfield department already bolstered by the signings of Idris El Mizouni, Louie Sibley and Will Vaulks this summer.
Buckingham said: “Our work is already done before the Euros, so if we’re looking at players in that window, you hope they don’t play very well in the Euros because it drags some attention to them that might not have been there.
“The work was done prior to that, whether they were at the Euros or they weren’t.
“I spoke at length around the two scenarios that come Wembley, if we did go up, there was the plan and the players that we’d already ring-fenced, and the way we wanted to play.
“Because of that, we’ve been able to go and act very quickly. That’s the reason why we’ve been able to bring in so many so quick, but at times you also have to be patient to get the ones that you want to come in and finalise our squad.
“We’re very clear on the type of player that we’re looking for. We’ve got a way we want to play and we can be really specific on the type of player for a certain role.”
