THIS weekend’s pre-season friendly at Mansfield Town might provide the first opportunity for Oxford United fans to see what summer signings Idris El Mizouni and Przemyslaw Placheta can offer.
United returned for pre-season training on July 1, before heading to Spain five days later.
El Mizouni and Placheta were two of the later arrivals to the squad, having joined on July 9 and July 15 respectively.
The two players are therefore slightly behind the rest of the side when it comes to getting fully up to speed, and didn’t feature against Oxford City or Solihull Moors.

U’s head coach Des Buckingham hopes that one, if not both, will play a part in Saturday’s game at Mansfield though.
Asked about the pair, Buckingham responded: “Hopefully Mansfield for one, if not both. Because we started pre-season three weeks ago, they haven’t been training with the team, and have been doing their own work.
“Because of that, we don’t have measurements of what they’ve done, so rather than assume and chuck them in, we will work with them and find out where they’re at, take our own measurements, and put a plan in place to get them up to a level.
“The last thing we want to do is throw them in too early and then they break down.”
