OXFORD United reportedly expressed an interest in a midfielder who caught the eye at Euro 2024.
According to the Daily Mirror, the U’s showed ‘initial interest’ in 26-year-old Timi Max Elsnik, who impressed for Slovenia this summer.
Slovenia drew all their group games, against Denmark, Serbia and England, to ensure progress to the last 16, where they were beaten on penalties by Portugal after a goalless draw.
Elsnik, who plays for Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia, started all four games and grabbed an assist against Serbia.

He is in the final year of his contract and has reportedly been available for £1.25m, with the deal said to be out of United’s reach, according to the Mirror, who state that Hull City have now been offered Elsnik, following bids from Dinamo Zagreb and Serie B side Pisa.
Elsnik came through the academy at Derby County, where he had loan spells at Swindon Town, Mansfield Town and Northampton Town.
The U’s have already signed midfield trio Idris El Mizouni, Louie Sibley and Will Vaulks this summer.
United can also call upon the likes of Cameron Brannagan, Tyler Goodrham, Josh Johnson, Josh McEachran, Marcus McGuane and Ruben Rodrigues in the midfield department.
