OXFORD United have snapped up their third goalkeeper of the summer with the addition of Matt Ingram from Hull City.

The 30-year-old left the Tigers training camp in Turkey to undergo a medical with the U’s, and has joined the club for an undisclosed fee.

United have already added two goalkeepers during the transfer window, with Jamie Cumming and Jacob Knightbridge arriving.

Simon Eastwood is also contracted to the U’s, while Ed McGinty is currently on loan at Sligo Rovers until the end of the League of Ireland Premier Division season at the beginning of November.

Ingram told the United club website: “I’m delighted to be here and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s a club on the up and I think good things are going to happen here, so when I knew about the interest I was over the moon.”

U’s head coach Des Buckingham added: “Matt is a very experienced goalkeeper in the Championship and throughout the EFL.

“He will add some valuable experience while also complementing the way we want to play. His experience and leadership qualities will add value to what is a very strong goalkeeping department led extremely well by our goalkeeping coach Lewis Price.

“Matt is a great addition to our group and a wonderful character to bring in as we continue to develop our culture and environment.”

Ingram came through the academy at Wycombe Wanderers, where he made 140 appearances, before joining Queens Park Rangers for a reported £450,000 in January 2016.

During his time with the Chairboys, he had loans with Lewes, Hayes & Yeading United and Oxford City.

While at QPR, Ingram had loan spells at Northampton Town and a brief return to Wycombe, before signing for Hull in June 2019.

Ingram has made 111 appearances for the Tigers, including 12 last season. He kept 16 clean sheets in 38 league games during the 2020/21 campaign, as Hull won the Sky Bet League One title.

He made 29 Championship appearances the following season, and set a Tigers club record for the longest run without conceding an away goal (560 minutes).

Ingram also joined Luton Town on an emergency loan at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, before signing a new three-year deal in the summer of 2022.

United’s head of recruitment, Ed Waldron, said: “We are really pleased to bring Matt into the club and to add further experience and quality to the goalkeeping department.

“Matt has been a well-established player for a number of years across League One and the Championship and he will complement the blend of goalkeepers we currently have at the club.

“Working alongside Des Buckingham and Lewis Price, we have established a very strong department of goalkeepers to cope with this Championship season and beyond.”
