A TALENTED young bowler took all 10 wickets for just eight runs in a record-breaking display.
The figures posted by Ascott-under-Wychwood’s 20-year-old fast bowler Rowan Moss are thought to be the best by any bowler in the 50-year history of the Cherwell Cricket League.
Moss’ outstanding performance in the Division 7B match against Charlbury 3rd XI helped earn his team a 55-run victory.

Played at nearby Freeland, Ascott had scored 130 all out in the first innings, and after tea, Charlbury reached 39 without loss, and seemed to be cruising to victory.
Moss had other ideas though, and took all 10 wickets in 8.4 overs, for just eight runs.
His spell included four maidens, while four batters were clean bowled, one lbw, and five were caught.
One delivery was so quick, it snapped the bail, yet the ball still went over the boundary rope behind the wicket-keeper.

The bowler’s dad, Stewart Moss, is Ascott’s club secretary, and told this newspaper: “He’s always been a good bowler and takes lots of wickets, ever since he was a junior cricketer, but this was one of those days where the stars aligned.
“He’s a fast bowler and it was a hard and fast pitch which suited him down to earth.
“When he takes a couple of wickets, it gives him a large boost of confidence, and that’s what happened as it just snowballed.
“In all honesty, he should be playing for a better team, but he’s not interested, as he only wants to play with his friends, and me as well.”
