ACTION continues to come thick and fast for Oxford Speedway fans, with four fixtures in just eight days, three of which are at Sandy Lane, writes Leon Foster-Hill.
It all starts tonight when the Cheetahs take on Workington Comets in a must-win top of the table clash against the league newcomers.
It will also mark a historic moment as the first professional female speedway rider will take to the Sandy Lane circuit.
Celina Liebmann, from Germany, made history in the winter by becoming the first professional speedway rider to sign for a UK club, and has made a great start to her first season on our shores.
Liebmann has already showed her class on the continent and picked up the first ever FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy at Teterow in Germany last weekend.

The Comets also feature ex-Cheetah Troy Batchelor and brief Oxford Spire Craig Cook, so the team will need to be in top form, despite only losing by two points at Workington last month.
Team manager Peter Schroeck warned against any complacency, saying: “Workington are in second place in the Cab Direct Championship for a reason. They’ve got a strong side. We would love to take all three points off them, but there’s no way we will underestimate them.”
Just 24 hours later, the Oxford Spires go to top of the Premiership side Ipswich Witches as they finally look to kick off their B series of fixtures.
The Witches have been hit with injury and have the one and only Scott Nicholls as a guest, whilst Oxford will line-up at full strength.
It is then a feast of Premiership action at Sandy Lane next week when the Spires take on the Sheffield Tigers on Monday, followed by the rearranged fixture against the Ipswich Witches on the Thursday.

Injury woes continue
No less than three riders picked up injuries over the weekend, including Adam Roynon on his debut ride for the club.
Roynon had an awkward fall in Heat 2 at Redcar, when Jody Scott locked up in front of him. Roynon used his skill and experience to avoid hitting the youngster, but an awkward tumble saw him pick up shoulder ligament damage.
It is hoped that he will only be sidelined for a brief period, however he will miss making his home debut against the Comets, and Scott will line up at number seven.
Jason Garrad then took a nasty spill whilst guesting for Berwick on Saturday night. He seems to have fared the worst of the three by losing a tooth, spraining his wrist, and suffering a cracked collarbone.
Senna Summers suffered bruising on Sunday at Leicester, however he should be back for the next Chargers meeting in a couple of weeks’ time.
