A dominant display from the Oxford Chargers against Belle Vue Colts saw them maintain their unbeaten record in the 2024 WSRA National Development League and move to second in the table.

The home side eased to a 49 - 40 win against the Colts, who have yet to register a win in the competition.

The first heat was won by Sam Hagon after Chargers guest Max Broadhurst fell on the first lap but it was the only lead the Colts enjoyed throughout the meet.

The Chargers soon gained momentum and started to pull away as they dominated the second heat and edged ahead by two points.

A cracking heat three saw Jason Garrad do all he could to get into a scoring position after being pushed wide on the first turn but there was just no way through.

Jacob Clouting at the front ensured the first of six shared heats during the afternoon.

The fourth heat saw Jody Scott and Senna Summers make an excellent start, which extended the Chargers' lead.

Garrad took the lead early on in the fifth heat to beat Hagon. Clouting had made a great start and held Hagon up for long enough to allow Garrad to carve out a strong lead.

Luke Killeen and Broadhurst then added another four points to the Chargers' tally after Freddy Hodder had an engine failure on lap one.

With the weather drying the track out quickly, the water bowser was called out for the second time and then Scott and Ashton Vale pushed the Chargers further ahead before heat eight essentially ended any chance for the Colts, with Vale and Summers claiming a maximum five one.

The highlight of the evening followed as Garrod held off Hodder for almost the entire four laps, only to be caught on the line.

The 10th heat saw the Colts gain their second heat victory with a maximum five one courtesy of Matt Marson and Micky Simpson.

There were then only two finishers in the next with Vale falling on the old pits bend whilst the Colts' Chad Wirtzfield lost power on the same lap.

However, their efforts were not enough as the Oxford Chargers finished with a string of four shared heats.

A large Father's Day crowd at Sandy Lane saw the Chargers register yet another win to leave them with a match in hand over league leaders Leicester Lion Cubs.

The next action at Sandy Lane will take place on Wednesday when the Oxford Monarch Cheetahs will face the Poole Pirates in a Cab Direct Championship duel.
