BICESTER’S Levison Usher was in action at the weekend’s British Motocross Championship.

The eight-year-old vied with some of the best youth riders from across the country at the Monster Mountain track in Merthyr Tydfil.

Usher competed in the British Auto Cup, riding his KTM SX 50cc motorcycle, and started qualification quickly, however a crash on the track cost him his flying lap.

He remounted, but the chance of a strong qualification had gone, with Usher ending up 33rd in a field of 40 riders.

In the race itself, Usher got off to a flying start, and at the first corner, he found himself in the middle of the pack.

By the time the finishing line approached, he picked up a couple more positions to take the chequered flag in 17th.

After the race, he said: “I’m very happy to be racing at the British Championships. I train every weekend and I hope I can keep improving.

“I’m pushing for a top five position in my club championship, so I will be back out racing next weekend.”
