FOUR Oxford riders were on show at the National Speedway Stadium for the British Final.

Jordan Jenkins was a late call-up after Rory Schlein was ruled out with injury, and he joined three Oxford Spires riders in the line-up, including two former winners.

Chris Harris is a three-time champion (2007, 2009 and 2010), while Charles Wright was victorious in 2019.

Lewis Kerr, who has recently returned from injury, completed the Oxford contingent.

Spires captain Harris stood out from an Oxford perspective, making the final and coming close to taking the wild card spot, however he made a poor start in the final and was unable to beat Tom Brennan, who finished third to secure a spot at the British Grand Prix.

Jenkins ended the night on five points, one ahead of Kerr, while Wright was excluded in his first race for bringing down Jenkins in a purely racing incident.

Wright followed that up with two wins and a second-place finish, just missing out on the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Spires’ Maciej Janowski finished second in the first round of the Speedway Euro Championship in Hungary, with his 12+3 total falling just short of Andzejs Lebedevs, who scored 17 points.

Ashton Boughen, 16, was involved at the SGP2 Under-21 World Championship qualifier in Macon.

Only four riders qualify, and although Boughen missed out, he impressed with two heat wins, and finished the night with seven points in his first attempt at an international competition.
