Chinnor promoted to Championship with a game to spare

The Oxfordshire side claimed the National League 1 title with a 52-0 win at Birmingham Moseley.

Chinnor had the wind behind them in the first half, but Moseley had the lion’s share of possession for the first 15 minutes, although they were unable to break through.

A Moseley infringement handed Chinnor a penalty, from which Alun Walker dotted down for Chinnor’s opening score. The conversion drifted just wide.

George Worboys broke through from a ruck and passed to Oliver Curry for Chinnor’s second try, while an interception by Grant Hughes led to him running clear and scoring under the posts for another converted try.

Within 10 minutes, another Chinnor line break saw the ball passed to Hughes for his second, and the try bonus point.

Another Moseley infringement gave away a penalty, and from Chinnor’s tap and go, Worboys was released to score his first try of the day under the posts, as Chinnor led by 40 points at the break.

Moseley came out from half-time with renewed vigour and the wind in their favour, but made no progress against the Chinnor defence.

Instead, Worboys chalked up his second converted try, while slick handling and offloads saw Will Feeney dotted down for a try, again converted by Worboys.
