JORDAN Flynn has more questions than answers after his scheduled opponent this weekend pulled out due to a ‘minor injury’.
The Cowley boxer was due to take on the highly-rated 21-year-old Cameron Vuong in Manchester on Saturday, but the bout was removed from the Jordan Gill v Zelfa Barrett card last week due to a ‘minor injury’ suffered by Vuong.
Rather than a 10-round fight with Vuong, Flynn will instead now go head-to-head in an eight-round bout with Tanzanian boxer Tampela Maharusi, who has 10 wins, including five via knockout, from 18 fights.

On Vuong’s injury, Flynn told this newspaper: “I don’t think that he’s as injured as what he’s saying. Maybe he’s not performing in camp and they’ve seen how I’m doing.
“All they’ve been saying is that it’s a minor injury, but with no explanation. If you missed school, you’d have to give a reason, but it’s not happening.
“I think they need more time for the fight. Maybe he wasn’t making the weight up in time, but there’s no response to the question when we ask that kind of stuff. I just find it a bit weird.”
He added: “I’ve spent two months preparing in camp for this one fight, but that’s been a bit of a waste of time now.
“I’m still fighting so I’m not as annoyed as I could be though. I’m ready to fight whoever is in front of me.
“A big shout-out to 258 Management and Matchroom Boxing to make sure I’m still boxing on that date.
“They sorted it quickly and got an opponent really quickly, and I know that he’s fit and ready.
“I’ve got more than 300 people coming up from Oxford, spending money on transport and hotels, so it’s good that won’t be going to waste.
“I appreciate all the support from Oxford. I see all the comments and we’re doing a really good job at putting Oxford on the map. The support means the world.”

Maharusi takes on Flynn having lost on points against Belfast’s Colm Murphy in Galway on March 16.
On his lightweight battle with Maharusi, Flynn said: “He’s a bit awkward and going to come into this one and give it everything.
“It’s a big stage for him and a great opportunity to fight on such a big stage.
“He’s going to be a bit different to what Cameron would’ve been, but you’ve got to be ready for whatever.
“He just did eight rounds in Ireland, so he’s fit and ready. He’s got a good record and will be a decent fight.
“We’re going to be active now and being active is the main thing.”
