Bennett then missed the loss at Bristol Rovers yesterday afternoon, with U’s head coach Des Buckingham confirming after the game that Bennett would not feature in training for at least two weeks.
The 33-year-old has played 12 times for United, with 10 of those starts, after initially joining the club at the end of November.
He then signed a deal until at least the end of the season earlier this month.
