OXFORD United have made their first move in the January transfer window with the addition of former Millwall attacker Tyler Burey.
The 23-year-old, who celebrated his birthday yesterday, can play out wide or up front, and was heavily linked with the U’s in the summer.
United looked poised to sign him on a permanent basis from Millwall, however he moved to Danish side Odense for an undisclosed fee later in the window.
He now joins the U’s on a loan deal until the end of campaign, subject to international clearance, having made just six appearances, five as a substitute, in the Danish Superliga.

United head coach Des Buckingham told the club website: “He is an exciting player to watch. He is quick, loves to take players on, and fills an important position within the squad. There were plenty of other clubs interested in him and we’re really pleased that he chose Oxford.”
Burey added: “I’m very excited and I’m delighted to get it over the line, and I’m just ready to go now.
“I heard the interest in the New Year and then I had to be on my toes to wait for a call to fly over.
“The club are pushing to do well, so for me, it’s about coming in, and adding something to that, and embracing everything that’s going on.
“I visited the club in the summer, and the style of play, it was a no-brainer for me.
“I like the way Oxford play and it will suit my game. The gaffer explained where the club is at right now and where he wants to take it, and I want to play a role in that.
“They are in a great position in the league and there are some really good players here – I can’t wait to get started.”
Discussing his time in Denmark, he said: “It’s a good league, they have some good teams in there like FC Copenhagen, who play in the Champions League, and some other clubs that play in the Europa League.
“The life experience was crazy for me, it was really different. I’m used to London, I’m a London boy, so it was a lot different.
“It was very quiet and I also learnt how to cook, so it’s been quite good.”

Burey signed for Millwall in June 2019, arriving as an 18-year-old from AFC Wimbledon, where he made five appearances.
His time at The Den included a loan spell with Hartlepool United, where he scored three goals in seven games at Sky Bet League Two level.
Burey left the Lions in August, after racking up 58 appearances, 43 as a substitute, and scoring three goals for the club.
He made 26 appearances for Millwall last season, as the Lions finished eighth in Championship, missing out on the play-offs by a single point.
U’s head of recruitment Ed Waldron said: “He is a player who has been on our radar for a couple of years at least, and that continued in Denmark. He stretches the game with his pace and has good delivery so we hope he comes in, makes an instant impact and plays a part in a successful second half of the season.”
