MARCUS McGuane has vowed to improve his goalscoring record for Oxford United, after netting just his second goal for the club.
The midfielder opened the scoring in United’s 2-0 win against Grimsby Town in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup, helping to set up a third round tie at Sky Bet Championship side Coventry City.
The goal was his second for the U’s, following on from another strike in the FA Cup, when he scored in a 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers in the first round back in November 2021.

“I know my goalscoring record isn’t the best, but that’s something I want to improve on,” said McGuane.
“I’m happy to help the team with a goal, and to get the two goals and a clean sheet is really good for the team.
“In the last eight months, I’ve managed to establish myself in the team with some good performances.
“For me, it’s just about keeping consistency and the winning mentality in the team.
“We want to dominate and finish as high as possible in the league. It’s about keeping that consistency and concentration, and hopefully we’ll get the rewards come the end of the season.”
