CALLUM Stead scored twice to condemn Oxford City to their fourth defeat on the bounce.

Barnet dominated the first half at Court Place Farm, although recent Hoops signing Claudio Ofosu sent a fierce shot from a tight angle towards goal, however Laurie Walker palmed away the effort for a corner.

The Bees took a worthy lead after 28 minutes though when Stead poked Nicke Kabamba’s flicked header underneath Marcin Brzozowski and into the net.

Barnet pushed on and doubled their lead just five minutes later. Stead doubled his tally, this time firing into the top corner from the edge of the box. Brzozowski got a fingertip to the effort, but it wasn’t enough to divert the shot to safety.

Walker made a super save to deny half-time substitute Olly Sanderson, before Harry Pritchard cleared Zac McEachran’s effort off the line.

Walker was again called into action, denying Josh Parker in spectacular fashion. Latrell Humphrey-Ewers’ corner found Canice Carroll free inside the area and Parker met the defender’s cushioned pass with a strong header back across the face of goal.

Somehow though, Walker kept the ball from crossing the line with a strong save.

Despite a stronger second half, it wasn’t City’s day, and that was exemplified late on when Sanderson broke through the Barnet backline, but drilled his effort wide.
