CAMERON Brannagan has returned to training, but remains a doubt for Oxford United’s home clash with Wycombe Wanderers.
The U’s midfielder has missed the last two games due to illness, but head coach Liam Manning was able to offer a mildly positive update on the 27-year-old.
Alex Gorrin: Anytime I pull on the yellow jersey, it’s a privilege
Discussing the situation this afternoon, Manning said: “He’s lost a considerable amount of weight, it him quite hard.
“He did a really light bit of work yesterday and today, so we need to see where he’s at.
“The worst thing you can do is throw him straight in and stretch him too much. Then you wipe him out, which is definitely what we don’t want.
“It’s great to have him back in the building, but we’ll have to be careful.”
On the sickness which has hit the squad, Manning added: “There’s still a little bit going around to be fair, there are a couple of lads who have got nothing major or of huge concern, but just little bits and pieces.”
James Henry meanwhile has yet to feature for United this season and last played for the club in March.
Manning said: “He’s out on the grass rehabbing, so he’s getting closer. Unfortunately for Jamo, he keeps picking up numerous different bits and pieces which keep sitting him out for three or four weeks.
“Then he returns and gets close, and then he’s out again. It’s been a bit stop-start, but what people mustn’t underestimate is the work that he does in the changing room and around the building.”
