CAMERON Brannagan is a doubt for Oxford United’s trip to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night.

The midfielder missed yesterday’s draw at home to Blackpool through illness, off the back of not training for most of the week.

United head to Wigan on Tuesday, looking to keep the heat on Sky Bet League One leaders Portsmouth.

Asked whether Brannagan will be available, U’s head coach Liam Manning said: “He’s been pretty rough. He came back in on Monday and I haven’t seen him since.

“I’ve spoken to him every day and he’s been quite rough to be totally honest. We’ll have to see how he goes, but I’m not entirely sure.”

Josh McEachran replaced Brannagan in midfield yesterday, with Manning left impressed by the former’s display against the Seasiders in what was just his first league start since August.

Manning said: “Josh is in really good shape. He’s been frustrated not to play, but Cam and Marcus [McGuane] have obviously done great.

“I know how good Josh is, I know what he brings to the side. When you see some of the quality in the first half, he plays a huge part in that.

“He can go again and he’s in good shape. He’s a really good professional and we’ll have to make sure he rests, recovers and gets ready to go.”
