OXFORD United have published information on how matchday crowds and traffic could be managed at The Triangle.
The U’s are looking to build a 16,000-capacity stadium south of Kidlington Roundabout, with the club’s licence agreement at the Kassam Stadium running out in 2026.
Alongside CGI pictures and a virtual flythrough released by United on Monday, the club is exhibiting a series of information boards at the Holiday Inn Hotel at Peartree Roundabout until October 21.
Designs are on show from 9am-8pm every day, while there will also be three ‘meet the project team’ days tomorrow (3pm-8pm), Saturday (9am-8pm) and on October 19 (3pm-8pm).

Among other things, the information boards provide detail on how matchdays and traffic may be safely managed.
One board states: “Oxford Road will be closed to traffic for an hour before a match and up to two hours afterwards. This will improve pedestrian safety and access.
“A full vehicle closure is proposed for the first 20 minutes before and after a match to enable the crowds to arrive and make their home via walk, cycle, the bus waiting on Oxford Road and at parkway and rail.”
Matchday stewards are proposed to ‘manage and facilitate the safe movement of supporters between the stadium and services at Oxford Parkway’.
Meanwhile, controlled parking zones up to 2km from the stadium on matchdays, in Kidlington and north Oxford, are being looked at, ‘to prevent supporters travelling to the stadium by car and parking on nearby residential streets’.
The information board adds: “The county council is already considering introducing controlled parking zones in the area due to the housing developments that have been approved on the neighbouring sites.”
With regards to stadium access, the board states: “Supporters will be advised that no car parking is available at the stadium (aside from accessible and operational spaces) when purchasing a ticket.
“On-site parking will be reserved for accessible users, match officials/ operational staff/ club staff and outside broadcast on matchdays.
“Parking, including accessible parking, will be accommodated on-site through a booking system. This will be managed through ANPR, signage and active enforcement.
“Non-matchday taxi drop-off is provided in the plaza to the north of the stadium. Matchday taxi drop-off and pick-up will be accommodated within the stadium car park and at Oxford Parkway. No taxi parking will be provided on site.”
The release of the CGI images and virtual flythrough was the first step taken by the U’s since the lease of land at The Triangle was approved in principle by Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet at a meeting on September 19.
The leasehold comes with several conditions, including United being given planning permission from Cherwell District Council and a net zero plan being produced.
