LIAM Manning and Greg Leigh have been nominated for September’s Sky Bet League One manager and player of the month award.
Manning won last month’s award ending an 18-year United curse for a divisional manager of the month award with Ramon Diaz being the last U’s to pick up the award in January 2005.
United have won three out of four games this month, scoring 10 goals and only conceding three.
The month started with late heartbreak after a last-minute penalty gave Port Vale three points at the Kassam Stadium.
But since then, United put three past each of Exeter City, Fleetwood Town and Stevenage picking up the maximum points return.
The winning run has continued into October leaving United second place behind John Mousinho’s Portsmouth, who has also been nominated for the award.
Also up for the award are Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield and Blackpool boss Neil Critchley.
Former United Mousinho led his Portsmouth side to an undefeated September picking up 13 points from a possible 15.
Portsmouth currently sit top the table, a point in front of United but have played one game more than Manning’s side.
Bloomfield guided Wycombe into the top half with three victories from four games, all of which came with a clean sheet.
Whilst, Critchley also moved Blackpool into the top half with three wins from four games, including an impressive 1-0 win at Barnsley.
Greg Leigh is up for the player of the month award after three goals in September means means the left-back is United’s leading scorer this season.
The Jamaica international scored twice at Stevenage, including a classy volley, on his birthday and United’s only goal in the Port Vale defeat.
Minutes after scoring the equaliser against Port Vale, he was shown a second yellow card and moments later Vale were handed a last-gasp penalty to win the game in the dying seconds.
The 28-year-old joined the club in the summer from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee.
Also up for the player of the month award is Barnsley striker Devante Cole, Portsmouth centre back Regan Poole and Jordan Rhodes of Blackpool.
Rhodes became the first Blackpool player to score a hat-trick in five seasons when he managed the feat against Reading as he finished the month with five goals in four games.
Scoring three goals in five games from the back, Poole has played a main role in Portsmouth’s good run which sees them top of the table.
Cole added another four goals in five games in September as his hot streak in front of goal continues for Barnsley.
All winners will be announced at 6am on Friday, October 13.
