CRICKET: Sam Ryan produced a fine batting display as he carried his bat to help Oxfordshire Under 15s to a draw against Worcestershire in their ECB County Championship clash at Stones- field.
Oxon won the toss and elected to field, but although the visitors started slowly, they eventually racked up a formidable 275-3 from 57 overs.
They were led from the front by a magnificent 120 not out from Andrew Curtis and a quickfire 50 not out from Neil Brown.
Rory Slater was the pick of the Oxon bowlers, taking two wickets from 19 overs.
In reply, Oxon lost an early wicket when Lloyd Sabin was run out, but after this, they gained momentum.
Ryan led the way, but there were notable knocks from Harry Smith (44) and Nigel Hume (22).
Worcestershire became ultra-defensive, determined not to lose the game, and it slowly petered out to end in a draw with Oxon closing on 182-4 from 48 overs.
